🎨 DTMHTA EVENT CALENDAR

Wednesday, September 30 – Tuesday, October 6, 2026

1. ART + MUSIC: LET THE PICTURE LEAD

Thursday, October 1 | 7–9 PM
📍 Lowe Art Museum, 1301 Stanford Dr., Coral Gables

The Lowe opens Let the Picture Lead: Helen Frankenthaler and Her Circle, featuring paintings and works on paper that explore Frankenthaler’s role in the evolution of postwar American art.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: Frankenthaler changed the way artists thought about color and paint, and this is a chance to see that story told through some rarely exhibited works.

2. THE SPACE BETWEEN — OPENING RECEPTION

Thursday, October 1 | 5–7 PM
📍 Galena Center for the Arts, Fort Lauderdale

The opening of The Space Between explores transitional moments, physical and digital boundaries, shifting identities and everything that happens in the artistic gaps between them, with live music and refreshments.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: It’s an intimate gallery opening with art, music and conversation—the sort of place where you might actually meet the person who made what you’re looking at.

3. RIVER OF GRASS — OPENING NIGHT

Thursday, October 1 | 6–8 PM
📍 Cornell Art Museum at Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach

Twelve artists from the Fiber Artist Miami Association and The Center: Hollywood Art & Culture Center transform the Everglades into a site-specific fiber-art installation inspired by Florida’s iconic landscape.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: Forget another painting on a white wall—this one turns the Everglades into an immersive woven environment.

4. GABLES GALLERY NIGHT

Friday, October 2 | 6–10 PM
📍 Coral Gables — Miracle Mile, Aragon Avenue & surrounding galleries

First Friday means Coral Gables galleries throw open their doors for an evening of exhibitions, live music and art-world wandering, with free trolley and Freebee transportation connecting the venues.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: This is practically tailor-made for DTMHTA—pick a gallery, follow the crowd, discover something unexpected and keep moving.

5. LISA LEONE — 212 + DJ ARTHUR BAKER

Friday, October 2 | 7–9 PM
📍 Leica Store Miami, 372 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables

Photographer Lisa Leone opens 212, her intimate look at New York’s early hip-hop generation, with a live DJ set by legendary producer Arthur Baker. The exhibition runs through Nov. 13.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: Photography, graffiti, dance, hip-hop history and a legendary DJ in one room—now that’s a gallery opening with some juice.

6. ART SERVE — IN MEMORY OF OPENING

Friday, October 2 | 6–8 PM
📍 ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale

ArtServe members explore personal histories and creative journeys in In Memory Of, with a free opening-night reception.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: This is local artists telling their own stories, and opening night is when the people behind the work are actually standing next to it.

7. EMERGE — NEW WORKS BY CREALDÉ ARTISTS

Friday, October 2 | 7–9 PM
📍 Crealdé School of Art, Winter Park

Crealdé’s Emerge showcases new work from artists in its 3D, photography, fellowship and studio-artist programs, spanning painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and photography.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: It’s a peek inside the next generation of artists coming out of a working studio environment rather than a polished museum retrospective.

8. FALL COLLECTION SALON — OPENING RECEPTION

Saturday, October 3 | 5:30–8:30 PM
📍 Broward Art Guild, 2052 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Fort Lauderdale

The Broward Art Guild launches its Fall Collection Salon, a no-theme, no-limits exhibition featuring painting, sculpture, photography, collage, fiber, jewelry, mixed media and more.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: With no theme telling artists what they’re supposed to make, you never quite know what you’re going to find—and that’s half the fun.

9. CLOSE TO HOME — ARTIST ROUNDTABLE

Saturday, October 3 | 3–4:30 PM
📍 NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, One E. Las Olas Blvd.

Artists from Close to Home gather for a conversation about relationships, community, collaboration, ancestry and the personal experiences that shape their work; the exhibition closes Oct. 4.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: Instead of simply looking at the art, you get to hear the artists explain the people, places and experiences hiding behind it.

10. ARTS BALLET THEATRE OF FLORIDA — PROGRAM I

Saturday, October 3 | 7:30 PM
📍 Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 SW 5th Ave., Fort Lauderdale

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents an evening of classical and neoclassical works, including Pentimento, Spring Waters, Four Seasons, Corpus and Raymonda Grand Pas.

Why DTMHTA viewers will go: Because after spending the week looking at art hanging on walls, it’s fun to watch artists turn the human body into the artwork.
