Ruth Burotte, known artistically as RUTAMFI, is a Miami-based Haitian American multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and art director whose work explores identity, technology, cultural consumption, and the influence of media on how we see ourselves.

Born in Queens, New York, and raised in Forest Park, Georgia, RUTAMFI earned her BFA in Art & Technology from New World School of the Arts. Her practice moves between traditional watercolor and digital media, spanning character design, illustration, animation, public art, and immersive installations.

Drawing inspiration from postmodern animation, early-2000s internet culture, anime, streetwear, Hip-Hop, and sneaker culture, RUTAMFI creates highly stylized worlds populated by characters who challenge conventional ideas of representation. Often centering Black female figures, her work uses humor, exaggeration, and vulnerability to examine subjects ranging from cultural bias and consumerism to mental health, generational trauma, and the complexities of self-awareness in a digital age.

Since becoming part of Miami’s arts community in 2018, RUTAMFI has contributed to exhibitions, murals, public art, and creative collaborations throughout South Florida and beyond. Her work has also intersected with brands including Nike, Adidas, Champion, Amazon Prime, Urban Decay, and Liquid Death.

Whether working on a wall, screen, canvas, or immersive installation, RUTAMFI blurs the boundaries between traditional and digital art—using the visual language of contemporary culture to question how media, technology, and the things we consume ultimately become part of who we are.
